Financial Safety – Sweden

I love Sweden for the financial safety net it provides for its residents.

People talk about weather or high taxes when it comes to Sweden, here I want to highlight the financial safety net Sweden provides for its people and I just love it 😊

  1. Försäkringskassan: It’s the social insurance agency, which provides payment when you are on sick leave, parental leave of 480 days, taking care of a sick child, child allowance 1500 kr per month for 1 child, and many more benefits.
  2. Akassa: It’s an unemployment insurance fund, you need to pay a premium and once you satisfy the rules, the max salary it covers is 33 000 Kr/month before income tax.
  3. Inkomstförsäkring: Working in private jobs and your salary is above 33 000 Kr/month, it’s better to be part of the union for this insurance called Inkomstförsäkring, which pays up to a certain limit (depending on which union you are a member).
  4. SFI: Provides free Swedish education for all immigrants in Sweden.
  5. Arbetsförmedlingen (Arbetsförmedlingen): Helps you in job search and internship journey.
  6. CSN – Centrala studiestödsnämnden: Provides education loans and education allowance if you want to study a degree in Sweden, provided you fulfill its rules.
  7. Jobbsprånget: One of my favorites, via this internship program only my wife found her first internship and also a permanent job in Sweden.

Did I miss anything? Please comment if I have to add anything more.
