Income to be Declared to Skatteverket

Sweden has the right to tax worldwide income, hence it’s your duty to carefully report any income you have in your home country or other parts of the world.

Most common income which needs to be declared is:

  • Bank Interest
  • Fund/Stocks/Dividends sale
  • Rental income or Property sold
  • ESOP/RSU
  • Freelance income

Deductions which you can claim based on the tax treaty:

  • Loss from stock market
  • Any interest on loan repaid
  • Loss from apartment sale

How to declare in Inkomstdeklaration1?

  1. Download all certificates & documents from other countries.
  2. Convert currency to SEK using Riksbank website exchange rate.
  3. Online in Skatteverket, go to: “Övriga upplysningar” & provide the following information:
    • The size of the income
    • What kind of income it is
    • Which country the income comes from
    • Which country you have performed the work in
    • Any foreign tax paid
