Did you know that your employer in Sweden pays a tax of 31.42% on your gross pay to employ you?
This concept was new to me coming from India, but according to Skatteverket (Tax office in Sweden), the Swedish social security system is mainly financed by social security contributions.
I believe this includes subsidized medical care, subsidized education for kids and university, parental leave benefits, and payment to take care of a sick child.
Hence, the cost for a company to employ someone in Sweden is roughly 40% to 50% more than the actual salary offered to you.
This cost includes social taxes of 31.42%, pension payment, insurance, holiday payment, and wellness allowance.
