Swedish Tax System

When we moved to Sweden, we think it’s only income tax that applies to us. But as I try to learn more about the tax system for private individuals, there are various scenarios and the tax rates also change.

  1. Expert Tax Relief: It’s one of the best cost-saving ways for companies and also for expats to move to Sweden. 25% of income is non-taxable.
  2. Progressive Income Tax: More income, more income taxes.
  3. VAT: As private individuals, we are paying VAT on buying goods and services. The maximum VAT is 25% on goods and services.
  4. Tax Treaty: Every expat needs to understand the tax treaty with their home country to evaluate which country has the right to tax income.
